¡P      Latest update of IATA e-freight Pilot Implementation

Further to our previous update on the subject project, please be informed that as one of the pilot location, the stakeholders in Hong Kong have set up different working groups to work out an implementation plan for the pilot. In the initial elaboration phase, which ranged from February to June this year, the working groups examined local business processes as well as the technical and legal/regulatory environments. This aims to define which paper documents should be removed from the transportation process, what types of freight will be included in the pilot programme and which participants will support what trade lanes.

In the next phase, specific operating procedures applicable to each trade lane will be developed, remaining business, legal, and technical questions will be temporarily solved by short-term solutions, processes will be tested in a controlled environment, operations staff will be trained, and the specific ¡¥go live¡¦ steps mapped out, for which the target date for the pilot test to go live is 5 November 2007 (Monday).

Please refer to the [E-freight Pilots¡¦ Scorecard] which shows an overview of the pilot progress in regard to participants involved, documents in scope, shipment included, progress against milestones and participants per tradelane for Members¡¦ information that is self-explanatory.
