WHAT WE DO
HAFFA promotes the freight logistics service industry as a whole. The Association aims to achieve standardization in the industry and to promote a high degree of professional conduct among its members, including ethics and financial viability. HAFFA has also been instrumental in establishing and continuously updating the industry's Form of Trading Conditions and introduced improved procedures to enhance cargo handling. HAFFA is active in providing educational courses to enhance the professional standards of freight forwarders and LSPs in Hong Kong. The launch of the Cargo Training and Development Sector (HAFFA Training School) which is an IATA Accredited Training School in year 2014 reinforces HAFFA’s commitment to the industry. HAFFA offers courses approved by the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) to ensure that participants have both the industry-specific knowledge and practical professional abilities to comply with prevailing regulations. These hands-on skills will enable participants to make an immediate contribution to the industry once in the workplace. As a not-for-profit organization, HAFFA is devoted to reducing training costs for the industry. The programmes offered by HAFFA will enable companies to invest their resources in operations, leading to higher productivity. HAFFA is involved with coordinating, lobbying and liaising with the Government of the Hong Kong SAR as well as other industry authorities and local operators with an aim to look after the best interests of its members. HAFFA is also the only body in Hong Kong appointed by FIATA to authorize issuance of FIATA documents in Hong Kong, such as FIATA Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (FBL), FIATA Multimodal Transport Waybill (FWB) and FIATA Forwarders Certificate of Receipt (FCR). The Association plays an important role in representing the Hong Kong freight forwarding and logistics industry on an international level. HAFFA represents its members' interests at meetings of the Federation of Asia-Pacific Air Cargo Associations (FAPAA), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and FIATA, ensuring that Hong Kong's voice is heard at international industry conferences and seminars.
