The Customs launched the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Transhipment Facilitation Scheme on 20 December 2015. This is a voluntary scheme which aims to facilitate traders with transhipment cargo via Hong Kong to enjoy preferential tariff under respective FTAs signed by the Mainland China. Under the scheme, the Customs would certify the integrity of transhipments so that the traders could claim tariff benefits under the FTA concerned. The FTA Scheme covers over 20 countries, including, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Pakistan, Iceland, Switzerland, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, New Zealand, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
